As a decorator I was always wondering how to decorate my own place. I had few different ideas and I couldn’t decide on one. I was, however, pleasantly surprised how quickly I came up with the ideas how to decorate my almost 2-year old son’s room😊 I need to admit this room was the most important for me. It was such a pleasure looking for inspiration and accessories.
The most important was for the room to be neutral. Jędrek doesn’t have set hobbies yet (and for every kid it can constantly change). That’s why I didn’t want to choose main theme. I focused on little JJ to learn to be independent.
You very often ask me where to look for inspirations? How to make your ideas come to life?
Before you decide to buy different pieces of furniture it is worth checking if they go together good. Without doubt very useful will be creating so called moodboard. How to do it without appropriate computer programme and designer knowledge? You can do it in very easy and traditional way 😉
All you need is to print the inspirational photos found on the Internet or cut it from various magazines and catalogues and put it on a piece of paper. When you put it together like that it is easy to see what doesn’t fit or suit the rest.
We can find plenty of photos of beautifully arranged rooms on Pinterest or Instagram. There is so many amazing accessories, fashionable furniture and great brands that it is difficult to choose final product. And the choice is huge- not only in styles but also prices. This is the reason it is difficult to know how much will it cost to arrange a room. You can see beautiful spaces with designer details and you wonder can you afford it? I hope I can help you decide.
Usually kids’ rooms are 10-15 square metres. How much you will spend on it depends mostly on you. Everyone prefers different things.
Average cost is between 9.000-12.000zł, but I was designing rooms that were 5000zł and above 20000zł. It doesn’t mean cheaper rooms are in any way worse. I believe the most important is that you and your kids are happy with the result. To succeed you need to put things together nicely despite the price.
It is September already so the new school year has begun. Soon students will have to start doing homework. How to make that nicer for them? It can be done by properly adjusting the height of the desk. As parents who spend their days sitting at a desk at work we know how painful for our backs can that be. Incorrect sitting position can cause serious health problems. This is why we have to teach our kids not to hunch over while sitting at a desk or kitchen table.
HOW CAN I KNOW IF MY KID’S DESK AND CHAIR ARE APPROPRIATE?
For adults there are set norms of how high should the desk or chair be to be comfortable but when it comes to kids the matter is more complex. Kids grow so fast it is hard to tell for how long will they be able to use the same desk. Is it better to fix it to the wall or buy free-standing one. When taking into consideration the price and children’s health the best option is to choose one that “grows together with your kid” so the one that has adjustable height. The most important thing is to check on regular basis if it needs adjusting. 😉
